Paris East Regional Technical Centre, La Courneuve-Aubervilliers, France

Situated on the border between La Courneuve and Aubervilliers, the Paris East Regional Technical Centre is set within a densely built-up area characterised by infrastructure and industrial heritage. The project unfolds as a linear building-landscape, following the curve of the motorway whilst shielding its interior spaces. Frugal and compact, it organises its functions into clear layers, where each level follows a distinct logic of flow and use. Low-carbon concrete anchors the building to the ground, whilst the timber structure elevates the workspaces with lightness and light. The grid-like façade, reinforced by reused sunshades, filters the climate and asserts a gentle, controlled architectural presence. Successive recesses, green terraces and patios introduce moments of respite and a sensitive relationship with the landscape. Beyond its technical function, the Regional Technical Centre becomes a unifying space, attentive to the movements of its users. It embodies an architecture that is understated, sustainable and deeply rooted in its local context.
